في العصر الحديث برز في ساحتنا مشروعان، المشروع الصهيوني والمشروع القومي العربي، وكلاهما صيغ في ظل الهيمنة الاستعمارية على الوطن العربي وبالصيغة التي تتيح للمركز الأمبريالي السيطرة على المنطقة. والمشروعان متضادان ومترابطان مصيرياً إذ أن نجاح أحدهما يعني تلاشي الآخر وزواله.
بعد قرن وأكثر من المواجهة بين المشروعين أخفق النظام العربي في جميع مراحل تشكله بالتصدي الناجع للمشروع الصهيوني. ولم يجرؤ لا قادة النظام العربي ولا مثقفوه أن يجيبوا على السؤال: لماذا حصل ما حصل؟
ليس أنهم قصروا في الإجابة فقط بل غرقوا في الأعذار. وهكذا تقلص المشروع القومي العربي المناهض من حركة ملموسة إلى نظرة غيبية تحاول البقاء على قيد الحياة بدواع واهية.
في هذه الدراسة يسعى المؤلف الذي سبق أن عمل في المجال العملي والنظري لمقاومة المشروع الصهيوني، إلى تقديم رؤية واضحة عن التقصير الذي حصل والذي ما يزال مستمراً، وإلى ما ينبغي فعله ليتم تدارك السقوط المخيف للمشروع العربي وللأمة.
