هذا الكتاب هو معجم تعريفي، يتناول المفردات والتعابير والمصطلحات التي تدخل لغة الإستعمال الإعلامي، حيث عمل المؤلف على رصد المصطلحات في عدد من الدوريات ووسائل الإعلام، وجمع ما فيه جديد على المتلقي العربي، إضافة إلى إستنباطه العديد من التعابير التي وضعها في قوالب تعريفية جديدة مع ما تطلّبه ذلك من تبسيط وشرح ومواءمة بين علم (تقنية المصطلح) وأصول إستخدامه في الموقع الصحّ - ثم عمل على تعريب هذه المصطلحات إلى الفرنسية والإنكليزية، ووضع لها شروحات مبسّطة للإستعمال وحسن الإستخدام.
ويعد هذا البحث المعجمي، الذي تطلّب العمل به جهداً جماعياً وفق معايير منهجية، مدخلاً إلى أصول التحديث اللغوي في الإعلام العربي، ونافذة يطلُ منها الإعلاميون والباحثون الأكاديميون على مَزيدٍ من التعامل مع فنّ (المصطلح)، بمعانيه المباشرة ولفتاته التحليلية، وخلاصاته التركيبية في لغة التداول الإعلامي.
