القانون التجاري هو مجموعة القواعد القانونية المنظمة للأنشطة التجارية، ويمكن تعريف الأنشطة التجارية بأنها تلك الأنشطة الإقتصادية التي تجددت تاريخياً بأنها أنشطة الصناعة والخدمات التي يتبع في شأنها طريقة الإنتاج الرأسمالية. وبالتالي لا يحكم القانون التجاري جميع الأنشطة الإقتصادية، بل إن الأنشطة الأولية، الزراعة وما في حكمها مثلاً لا تخضع كأصل عام لأحكام هذا القانون. يبحث هذا الكتاب في ثلاثة محاور من القانون التجاري وهي: 1- التنظيم القانوني للتجارة، 2- الملكية التجارية والصناعية، 3- الشركات التجارية.
تخلص هذه الدراسة إلى نتيجة مفادها أن حسن إدراك النظام القانوني للشركات المتعددة الجنسيات يتطلب معرفة جيدة لإقتصاديات هذه الظاهرة. وفي هذا الإطار سعت الدولة اللبنانية إلى إصدار قوانين الإستثمار المتعاقبة تشجيعاً للإستثمارات الأجنبية من أجل معاملة الشركة الوليدة معاملة الشركة الأجنبية (...) ولعل في إمكان المشرع اللبناني أن يوفر مزيد من الضمانات والحوافز لمزاولة النشاط الإقتصادي ولكن في مقابل هذه الحوافز ولا بد من تقديم ضمانات يمكن لها أن تفرض إلتزامات على نحو تتحقق فيه المصالح الوطنية للمجتمع اللبناني...".
