يدور موضوع الكتاب حول الضوابط القانونية التي تنظم النقل، والنقل ينقسم إلى نقل أشياء ونقل أشخاص، ومن حيث المجال الذي يتم فيه إنجاز النقل ينقسم النقل إلى نقل بري ونقل نهري ونقل بحري ونقل جوي، ومن حيث النظاق السياسي للنقل، فإنه ينقسم إلى نقل داخلي ونقل دولي. أما من حيث الغاية من تقديم خدمة النقل فهناك نقل مجاني ونقل بمقابل. وأخيراً من حيث صفة الشخص مقدم الخدمة يمكن التمييز بين النقل العام والنقل الخاص.
وفي ضوء هذا التقديم يتناول هذا الكتاب دراسة القواعد المنظمة للنقل من خلال ثلاثة محاور: الأول هو دراسة الأحكام العامة للنقل الواردة بقانون الموجبات والعقود، والثاني هو دراسة الأحكام الخاصة بالنقل البحري، وأخيراً يمثل المحور الثالث دراسة الأحكام الخاصة بالنقل الجوي. ولئن كانت هذه الدراسة للنقل ترتكز على أحكام القانون اللبناني، فإنها تشمل أحكام الإتفاقيات الدولية في مجال النقل المرعية الإجراء في لبنان، كما أنها قد تشير إلى الأعراف السائدة في مجال النقل، سواء كان العرف محلياً أو دولياً كما هو شأن العرف البحري.
وبناء على ما تقدم تنقسم هذه الدراسة إلى ثلاثة أقسام: -القسم الأول: في الأحكام العامة للنقل. -القسم الثاني: في الأحكام الخاصة بالنقل البحري. -القسم الثالث: في الأحكام الخاصة بالنقل الجوي.
