في روايتها "وَظَنّ أَنّهُ الفراقُ" تثير الكاتبة إيمان حمد مسألة على غاية من الأهمية، وهي عدم إنجاب المرأة المتزوجة، والنظر إليها من قبل المجتمع والأسرة على أنها مذنبة، تلك هي حال "حصة" مع "سعود" كانا زوجان سعيدان، متحابان، إلا أن فرحتهما لم تكتمل "لم تكن تعلم بأن فرحتها معه ناقصة"، ويكملها الأولاد الذين يجب أن تُنجبهم منه، إلا أن الطبيب قال بأنها لا تنجب، ولا أمل سوى الدعاء".
تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية حتى تضيق أم مسعود بهذا الوضع، فأرادت منه الزواج بأخرى، ولكن رغبة سعود كانت ضد رغبتها ولكن إصرار الأم ورغبتها بأن ترى أحفاداً يملؤون ذلك البيت الذي ساده السكون بعد وفاة زوجها منذ أمد طويل، وتلاه بسنتين ابنها "فهد" ولم يبق سوى ابنها الأصغر سعود وابنتها نورة؛ هذا كله كان ضغطاً على سعود فوافق على قرار أمه، فاختارت له عروساً بهدف الإنجاب هي "جواهر" لم يستطع تقبلها أو يحبها، لأن قلبه معلقاً بــ "حصة" التي غادرت المنزل بعد أن عرفت بقدوم "جواهر" لتشاركها زوجها ومنزلها...
يرزق سعود بطفلة ويفرح لكونه صار أباً، ولكنه لم يكن يخطر في باله أن "جواهر" تخبئ شيئاً في ذاتها مخالفاً للأخلاق، فعلاقتها بصديقتها "مريم" لم تكن صداقة بريئة "فتح باب الغرفة، وصُدم من المنظر الذي رآه!"...
ولكن السؤال الأهم هل يبقى للحب مكاناً بين "حصة" و"سعود"، وهل سينتهي وقت الفراق أو ما ظن أنه الفراق؟...
وظن أنه سيفارقها بكل جوارحه،إلا أن عينيه فارقت رؤيتها فقط!
وقلبه ما زال مُعلقاً بها، واُذنه تبحث عنها في كل حديث تَتخلله، حتى نبرته التي تخذله عندما يتذكرها.
لم يفارقها عندنا ظَن أنه سيفارقها، أيها المسكين، ظننت أنه فُراق، إلا أنه بداية العذاب!
