والاحتراق النفسي ليس مجرد موضوع ساخن تتم دراسته إنما هو قضية خطيرة توثر علي رفاهية ملايين العاملين وعشرات الملايين من عملائهم المتأثرين بهم، وسابقًا كانت الفكرة السائدة إن الاحتراق النفسي قاصرًا علي العاملين خاصة في الخدمات الطبية والمهن الإنسانية ولكن الأمر تجاوز مقدمي الخدمة ليكون هناك احتراق المراهقين واحتراق الأزواج وحتي احترق الأباء.
والاحتراق النفسي ليس بالمفهوم الجميل الذي يفضل تداوله ودراسته ولكن من منطلق معرفة العدو والتصدي له، حيث أصبح من أشد الأعداء فتكا بالإنسان والذي يطبق بجناحيه النفسي والبدني، فلا يقف الاحتراق النفسي عند كونه حاله تصيب البدن بل أنه يصيب الروح أيضًا ويترك أثارًا سلبية ليس علي المصاب فحسب إنما تمتد هذه الآثار لتشمل الذين يتواصلون ويتفاعلون معه.
