جاءت الرواية تحت عنوان "غرفة الاحتراق" وهي من تأليف الروائي الأميركي مايكل كونللي وترجمة ماجد حامد ومراجعة وتحرير مركز التعريب والبرمجة في بيروت.
في رواية التشويق والإثارة "غرفة الاحتراق" يعرض لنا الكاتب الأميركي "مايكل كونللي" ما توصل إليه بطل رواياته العتيد المحقق المخضرم هاري بوش وشريكته الشرطية الغرة ساتو في تحقيقهما لجريمتين لم يتم حلّهما ويبدو أن هناك رابطاً يجمع المتورّطين بهما وبالضحايا أيضاً.
من المعلوم أن وحدة التحقيق في الجرائم غير المحلولة تُعنى في العادة بقضايا القتل والسرقة التي مرت عليها سنوات ولم تُحل، ولكن في هذه الرواية حصلت جريمة إطلاق نار على شخص قبل سنوات وجعلته طريح الفراش لسنوات وتسببت ببتر ذراعيه وساقيه قبل أن تودي بحياته في نهاية المطاف. ولكن بعد وفاته استحصلت الشرطة من خلال الطب الجنائي على الرصاصة التي استقرّت في عموده الفقري ومنها انطلقت عملية تحقيق واسعة ومعقدة ليتبين أن القتيل لم يكن المقصود بإطلاق النار.
تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية لتقودنا التحقيقات التي قام بها هاري بوش وشريكته الشرطية ساتو إلى كشف النقاب عن حريق حضانة أطفال حصل قبل عقدين حيث نتعرف إلى الأسباب الصادمة التي حملت الفاعلين على إحراق الأطفال أحياء.
كالعادة المحقق هاري بوش يرى في السياسة عوائق أمام تحقيق العدالة، ويسعى إلى تدمير هذه العوائق ما لم يتمكن من تنحيتها جانباً.
