هذا هو الجزء الثاني في "علم البيان"، بدأته في جامعة "بيروت"، عندما كنت أستاذاً بها، ولم أشأ أن أطبعه في كتاب، لأنني كنت أعلم أن المجاز وهو عصب "البيان"، لم يكن قصراً على البلاغيين عند القدماء، وإنما كان قسمة بينهم وبين الفقه وعلم الكلام، فلما عدت إلى جامعة "الإسكندرية" وأسند القسم إلى هذا العلم، وعدت إلى ما كنت قد جمعته من كلام الفقهاء وعلماء الكلام في المجاز، فكان هذا هو الجزء الثاني من "كتابنا فلسفة البلاغة".
ونعني بالفلسفة هنا أصول القواعد والمصطلحات البلاغية التي انتهت إلينا منذ "السكاكي"، فنعيد النظر في الأسس التي صدر عنها السابقون في بناء هذه القواعد، والمنطق الذي أقاموا عليه هذه المصطلحات حتى يستطيع الطالب أن يقف على هذه الأغوار، لتصبح القاعدة لها عمقها الذي تثبت به في الذهن، فلا يأخذها أخذ المسلمات أو الطلاسم التي لا وراءها وراء يستحق التدبر والإعتبار.
