تمثل رؤية الإمام المعصوم في المنام بالنسبة للمحبين والموالين أمراً يبعث على السعادة والبهجة والارتياح، هذا بالنسبة لرؤية الإمام المطلق، أما إذا كانت رؤيا الإمام تتضمن بعض التفاصيل، فهي -بشكل عام- بمثابة الدليل على خلوص نية الرائي والمشاهد لهذه الرؤيا، هذا من جانب، ومن جانب آخر فإن الأئمة عليهم السلام ومن خلال حضورهم في منامات بعض المؤمنين والصالحين قد يكون للإبلاغ عن بغض الأحداث التاريخية أو توضيحها وتصويبها، أو إيصال بعض التعاليم والوصايا، أو التأكيد على صوابية بعض الأمور المتبعة أو الطقوس الممارسة أو الحث على القيام بها وممارستها أو ربما بالعكس.
ثم إن حضور بعض الأئمة عليهم السلام، في منامات بعض الأفراد، كان له أكبر الأثر في هدايتهم وكان سبباً في شفاء الكثير من المرتضى الذين عجز الطب العصري عن شفائهم، وتذكر كتب الأدعية والزيارات بعض الأعمال التي إن قام بها المرء تمكن من مشاهدة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم أو أحد الأئمة عليهم السلام في المنام.
وهذا الباب من دائرة المعارف الحسينية إضافى لشموله على ذكر من رأى الإمام الحسين عليه السلام في منامه في حياته وبعد استشهاده عليه السلام يشتمل على ذكر ما شاهده الإمام الحسين عليه السلام بنفسه من الرؤى، وقد أورد المؤلف في هذا الباب قسماً تضمن تفاسير للأحلام التي استنتج حصولها مسهبة عن الأحلام والرؤى بادئاً بالحديث عن النوم وتعريفه وأقسامه،ونظرة العلم الحديث إلى النوم، وغير ذلك من الأمور التي لا مجال لذكرها هنا.
وهذا الجزء هو الجزء الأول من أجزاء ثلاثة تحمل عنوان (الرؤيا... مشاهدات وتأويل)، وقد اعتمد المؤلف الشكل المنهجي في موضوع الرؤيا، فقام بترقيم الرؤى مع وضع عنوان مناسب لكل رؤيا، وتحديد تاريخها وظروفها، وتخريج المصادر، وشرح الغامض من مفرداتها.
