كتابه هذا فريدٌ في بابه، لم يَنسجْ أحدٌ على مِنواله، جامعٌ للفرائد، زاخرٌ بالفوائد، وكُتبه في الفقه وغيره معروفةٌ شرقاً وغرباً، كما أنه عالمٌ باللغة والنحو مشهودٌ له بذلك، وهو مع ذلك من المتقدِّمين المعاصرين لأئمةِ التفسير الكبار أمثالِ الزمخشريِّ وابنِ عطية وطبقتهما،
وقد سعى فيه المؤلفُ لتحقيق أمرين اثنين:
الأول: الارتقاءُ بالإيمان والتقوى، وذلك لكثرةِ ما حواه من المواعظ والحِكم، والتذكيرِ بالله.
والثاني: الارتقاءُ بالعلم بالقرآن لغةً وإعراباً، وتفسيراً وتأويلاً، مع حشد الأقوال ونقل الآثار، مما تفرَّد بكثير منه هذا التفسير، وقد سماه:
((التيسير في التفسير))
فكان اسماً على مسمًّى، فهو ميسَّرُ لمن قرأه، ميسِّر معرفةَ التفسير على مَن طالَعه.
