في هذا الكتاب "الوثيقة" يسعى الدكتور "محمد البهي عيسوي" ليقدم لنا من علمه بعض ما نجهل عن صحراء مصر، ولتصحيح بعض ما حاول جهلاء ومغرضون ايهامنا به:
"يا سادة يا كرام كل ما على سطح الصحراوات المصرية معروف تماماً وجيداً لكل المتخصصين الأمناء والشرفاء الذين لا يتاجرون بمعسول الكلام للحصول على منصب أو وظيفة... فسهل اللقيطة شرق قنا، ووادي قنا نفسه الذي يضارع وادي النيل من حيث الاتساع ونوعية تربته الخصبة، ووادي الأسيوطي شرق أسيوط كلها مناطق يجب أن ننظر إليها على أنها الأمل في زيادة مساحة وادي النيل في اتجاه الشرق، ويجب أن نهتم كثيراً بمناق الصحراء القريبة من زراعات الوادي القديم من غرب بني سويف حتى غرب كوم أمبو مروراً بغرب المنيا وغرب أسيوط وغرب سوهاج وغرب إسنا حتى غرب أسوان، والمنطقة الأخيرة تعتبر من أهم المناطق التي يجب استصلاحها، حيث تربتها من أخصب مناطق مصر لكونها كانت ممراً لأنهار قديمة قبل وصول النيل إلى مصر، على الأقل يمكن زراعة أكثر من مليون فدان غرب كوم أمبو وغرب إدفو بطرق الري المتطورة ولعل هذه المنطقة فقط، إذا زرعت قمحاً فإنها تكفي أهل مصر وتزيد".
