يتقفى سيزار أثر زوجته ليكشف سر وفاتها و في رحلته يكابد مرار الأسى و علقم حبٍ مفقود. يروي لإبنه هيكتور هذه الرواية لتبقى والدته حيةً أبداً , و تبقى قصة حبهما الحزينة بين يدي الإنسانية . بدأت حكايتهما من معرضٍ لصورٍ قامت هي بالتقاطها و بوصفه صحفي رغب بلفت نظرها إليه فحرر مقالاً عن المعرض لكنه أساء فهم الصور مما أثار سخطها فطلبت مقابلته.
نفحاتٍ هيام تلفحنا في أجمل العوالم فناً و كأننا نقوم برحلة مع الكاتب لنقع بحب اسبانيا و حبيبته الإسبانية, كما ستهزنا عواصف من غضب في مواجهة عالمٍ اكتسحته التكنولوجيا و شوهت أرقى المعاني . أما عالم البحار فهو الرحلة الأعذب التي يهبنا إياها كاتبنا الموهوب لنغتسل مثله من الأحزان.
صراعٌ بين الثقافة القديمة يمثلها سيزار الذي يصعب عليه التصالح مع الحياة المعاصرة التي تمثلها باز. صراعٌ بين الرجل و دوره و المرأة , بين الأمومة و الأبوة. مفاهيمٌ شتى ينثرها بين ثنايا صفحاته ليحاورنا و يداعب قيثارة قلوبنا المنهكة بعجلة الحياة.
