يتناول هذا الكتب فرعا هاما من فروع الترجمة وهو ترجمة العقود، ويحتوي على مقدمة عن اهم سمات اللغة القانونية الانجليزية. ويقسم الكاتب هذه السمات إلى ثلاثة أقسام رئيسية هى : الخصائص الشكلية، المفردات ، والتراكيب المستخدمة في الوثيقة القانونية مع إعطاء أمثلة وافية لكل سمة من هذه السمات. ثم يتناول الكاتب مفهوم العقد وصياغته من حيث أركان العقود وأنواعها وخصائصها ، وانعكاسات ذلك على ترجمة العقود مع إعطاء أمثلة ونماذج عملية وفيرة عن كيفية التعبير عن كل خاصية من هذه الخصائص في ترجمة البنود القانونية المتعلقة بها . واخيرا يتناول بالشرح والتحليل والنماذج العملية العقود المدينة مع التركيز على عقود البيع والإيجار والعمل والزواج والصيانة والخدمات. ويسبق كل نوع من أنواع هذه العقود خلفية بسيطة عن العقد محل البحث والكلمات والعبارات المستخدمة فيه. إن هذا الكتاب يطرق بابا جديدا ظل مغلقا لفترة طويلة ، ويشكل إضافة جديد ومميزة إلى ما كتب في حقل الترجمة حتى الان ، وهو فضلا عن ذلك يعتبر بمثابة مرجع مبسط لا غنى عنه للمترجم المبتدئ والمحترف على حد سواء
