يقدم المفكر التونسي صالح الدريدي في هذا الكتاب أفكاراً جديدة بالغة الأهمية، وفي (ومضة) لها ومنها نقرأ:
ليس الجسد الأنثويّ أو الذكوريّ حقيقة موضوعيّة في الحضارات الأولى، بل هو إنتظام رمزيّ، فالجنسنة، بما هي تعالق بين الجسد والعالَم، تشكل أسس الإدراك وتختزل بنيات المعرفة، وصور الهيمنة التي انطبعت بها كانت نتاجاً للتّراكم الثقافي.
فقد أنبنتْ سياقيّاً على جدل المؤنّث والمذكّر، وتاريخيّاً على جدل الأنا والآخر، وكان الصّراع محوراً تتجلّى من خلاله الهويّات.
إنّ صراع الذّكر والأنثى على الفضاءات الدلاليّة في المجتمع البدائيّ شكّل هويّتهما، لكنّه خلّف جملة من الآثار التي بقيت عالقة في الرّاسب البنيويّ، وتكمن خطورة هذه الآثار في عدم تنسيها، حيث اتخذتْ صفة الشموليّة ممّا سهلّ توظيفها في سياقات حادثة وأدّى إلى تطييع الجسد مع العالَم وتأييد الجنسنة.
لقد ارتهنت هويّة الجسد بهويّة العالَم، وهذا ما اتّضح في المسار التاريخيّ للثقافة بدءاً من المجتمع السومريّ وصولاً إلى الإرث الإبراهيميّ بمنحاه الدينيّ، فدخال هذه المنظومات المعرفيّة حصل التباعد الأقصى بين الذّات وجسدها.
ذلك أن الصرّاع الأوّليّ بين الذّكر والأنثى التبس بصراع أكثر إمتداداً بين المرئيّ واللاّمرئيّ وبين الحاليّ والإحاليّ، فوقع استدماجه، ولم يتخلّص من إغترابه إلاّ في لحظات عابرة ولكنّها مؤثّرة في تفهّم ظاهرتي الأنوثة والذّكورة.
