يُعدّ البحث النسويّ اليومَ وسيلةً من وسائل تمكين النساء وبناء معرفةٍ تقوم على تجاربهنّ، وقد ارتأيت أن يكون عنوان كتابي "سيرة العنقاء" مشتقاً من تجارب النساء اللواتي ينبعثن من رمادهنّ ليعبّرن عن أنفسهنّ بطرقٍ جديدةٍ لم تخطر ببال؛ فالعنقاء هي كلّ امرأةٍ تتطلّع إلى تعديل موازين القيم، والأعراف، والقوانين، والحقوق، والمسؤوليات، وصوغ هويّةٍ متكاملةٍ للمرأة.
وهذا الكتاب كنايةٌ عن سيرتي وسيرة شبيهاتي اللواتي يرغبن في تحقيق شراكةٍ متوازنةٍ في مجتمعاتٍ مشغولةٍ بقضايا تبعدها عمّا ينبغي أن تتّجه إليه، وقد أردت به أن أقف على أوضاع المرأة، الّتي ما زالت تتأرجح بين الثبات والتحوّل، فما قرّ وضعها، وما ثبتت على حال، متّكئةً على رمز العنقاء بكلّ ما يحتويه من دلالة، وعلى هذا فأنا أنتسب لموضوع كتابي كما أنتسب لنفسي، ولجنسي، ولهويّتي.
وتصريحي بهذا الإنتساب لا يلغي سواي، ولا يخفض من قيمته، بل يتطلّع إلى نوع من الإعتراف بهويّة الأنثى كائناً له الحقّ في الإنخراط في معمعة الحياة، والمشاركة في شؤونها.
وهذا الكتاب، في نهاية المطاف، تغريدةٌ لحوّاء: تلك العنقاء الّتي ما تلبث أن تنبعث من رمادها كلما أمعن الرجال في حرقها، ودفنها، فلا عبرة في رمادٍ، بل وهجٌ يضيء العالم، ويزيد من نوره.
