إن كتاب «أفلام السيرة الذاتية: تصوير المشاهير من زوايا مختلفة» للناقد السينمائي علاء المفرجي.
يشتمل على ثلاثة فصول رئيسية حيث يركِّز الناقد في الفصل الأول على معنى أفلام السيرة، ونظرة عامة إلى أهمّ أفلام السيرة التي أنتجتها السينما العالمية بما فيها السينما العربية. أما الفصل الثاني فيتضمّن عدداً من أفلام السيرة الحديثة لـ19 مُخرِجاً سينمائياً من بينهم سودربيرغ، إيستوود، توم هوبر وآخرون. فيما يقتصر الفصل الثالث على أربعة مخرجين استهوتهم أفلام السيرة وهم سوكوروف، سكورسيزي، أوليفر ستون ويوسف شاهين.
ما يلفت الانتباه في هذا الكتاب النقدي أن ثيمة «السيرة البَصَرية» حاضرة في كل صفحة من صفحاته وكأنّ الناقد يجترح بنية معمارية رصينة في نص روائي محبوك وهذا دليل حِرصٍ على متابعة الثيمة والإمساك بتلابيبها على مدار الفصول الثلاثة التي تؤسس متن الكتاب. وحتى الاقتباسين اللذين استلفهما من أندريه موروا وبورخيس يدخلان في صُلب الثيمة ولا يشذّان عنها أبداً، فالأول ليس مع قول الحقيقة كلها، وإنما مع الاكتفاء بجانبٍ منها، أما الثاني فينتصر إلى «حركيّة السينما» ولا يميل إلى السكونيّة في «ترجمة حياة شخص ما» أو الالتزام الحرْفي بسيرته الذاتية
