من هنا نتبع أهمية دراسة القانون البحرى لدينا وفى هذا الكتاب موضوع دراستنا بصفة أساسية، هو القانون الخاص البحرى، غير أن هذا لا يعنى اقصاء القانون العام البحرى نهائياً عن نطاق دراستنا وإنما قد نتعرض لموضوعاته التى تتصل مباشرة ببحثنا.
وسنمهد لهذه الدراسة بباب نتكلم فيه عن الموضوعات العامة التى يجب التعرض لها قبل الدخول فى صميم الموضوع مثل نشأة القانون البحرى، وموضوعه ومصادره وذاتيته. ثم نقسم الدراسة إلى أربعة أقسام:
القسم الأول: فى أداة الملاحة البحرية (السفينة).
القسم الثانى: فى أشخاص الملاحة البحرية.
القسم الثالث: فى العقود البحرية.
القسم الرابع: فى الطوارىء البحرية.
