تم تنظيم البيوع البحرية الدولية المعروفة فى ميدان التجارة البحرية, فى نصوص إحتوائها القوانين البحرية أو قوانين التجارة, لكى تكون مرجعاً مهماً للأشخاص الذين يعملون فى الملاحة البحرية. وقد نظم المشرع العمانى أغلب المسائل التى تتعلق بالملاحة البحرية وذلك فى القانون البحرى الصادر بالمرسوم السلطانى, رقم (35) لسنة 1981.
وعليه سوف نتناول فى هذا الكتاب الموضوعات المذكورة سابقاً, فى خمسة أبواب يسبقها فصل تمهيدى وفقاً لما يلى:
الفصل التهميدى, ونتناول فيه التعريف بالقانون البحرى وعلاقته ببقية القوانين, إضافة إلى دراسة مراحل تطور القانون البحرى مع بيان القواعد التى يتضمنها وتجعل منه قانوناً مستقلاً, وكذلك تحديد مصادر القانون البحرى وأخيراً توضيح نطاق تطبيقه.
الباب الأول: السفينة وأشخاص الملاحة البحرية.
البابى الثانى: النقل البحرى.
الباب الثالث: البيوع البحرية الدولية.
الباب الرابع: الحوادث البحرية.
الباب الخامس: التأمين البحرى.
