نتيجةً لاستمرار العنف وتوسُّعِهِ في حياة الناس، وصحبة التطور التكنولوجي لمضاعفات جانبية خطيرة في تشييء الإنسان، وبدء قولبة حياته الذهنية والعاطفية والعملية إلى ما يشبه الآلة الحية، عاد التراث الصوفي ليكتسب سمعة طيبة، بعد تاريخ طويل من الهجاء والإنتقاص. فإذا بالعرفان والتصوف تراث يستعاد كذخيرة حيّة ضد هيمنات إرادة السَيقَنة والسوق، وضد خطاب موت الإنسان وقتل الإله وزوال التاريخ. وإعادة نفخ الفاعلية في الوعي كي يُفرّق بين الواقع والمحاكاة والزيّف. ذلك أن التصوف كطاقة تأويل، هو تحطيم كُلي لكل نسق ولكل ذهنيات التبضع، التي لا تبقي من الوجود سوى ذرات فيزيائية خرساء، والإنسان مجرد كيس متحرك للكائن البيولوجي.
وبالرغم من اشتهار التصوف والعرفان بكونه يستخدم لغة وأداة لا يأمل في فهمها سوى الندرة من البارعين، باعتباره الغامض الذي يخفي حقيقة تفكيره، لكنه بات الأشد شعبية اليوم. وحقيقة لا يوجد أشد تشويقاً من مزيج عشق وإيمان، دقة علمٍ وجنون بيان.
فالتصوف لم يكُتب بحسب رغبات الجمهور، لكنه نجح في جعل نصوصه مشغل إغراء وجذب تنشد إليها توافقاً واختلافاً كافة أذواق القرّاء. فكأن ذلك التوظيف الخاص لتركيبات ومصطلحات واشكال تعبير متداخلة، انتجت عبقرية خاصة بذاتها، لا تستطيع مهما اختلفت معها سوى الإعجاب بجهدها وامتيازها. ففي فرح العبادة يولد الشعور.
