هذا الكتاب يوضح تعليمات الممارسة الاشعاعية في الصناعة ويأتي في جزئين رئيسيين، الأول: تعليمات الممارسة الاشعاعية في التصوير الصناعي ويتناول هذا الجزء التعليمات بالنسبة لمعدات التصوير الاشعاعي الصناعي وهي أجهزة تستفيد من قدرة اختراق الأشعة السينية وأشعة جاما للحصول على معلوماتغير اتلافية على المكونات الداخلية للاجسام والمواد، والغرض من هذه التعليمات تحديد الممارسة التي تهدف إلى ضمان عدم تعرض الأشخاص إلى الإشعاع المؤين غير المبرر وأن يظل التعرض منخفضاً إلى أقل حد حد معقول يمكن تحقيقه.
الثاني: تعليمات الممارسة الاشعاعية للمقاييس وسبر الآبار وتنطبق هذه التعليمات على المقاييس النووية وسبر الآبار والتي تتكون من المقاييس الثابتة، مقياس الكثافة - الرطوبة، ومعدات سبر الآبار النووية، والغرض من هذه التعليمات هو تثبيت مماراسات العمل، والإجراءات والتدابير الوقائية لضمان أمن المصادر المشعة والذي يضمن بأن الجرع المستلمة تكون في حدود الجرع الموصي بها عالمياً.
