تدور هذه الدراسة التي أعدها الدكتور "عبد الحميد المحادين" حول المكان في الرواية الخليجية من خلال أربعة فصول رئيسية تحددت موضوعاتها وفقاً للشكل التالي: الفصل الأول هو: المكان المفتوح في الرواية الخليجية، وهذا يتناول: البحر، الصحراء، المدينة. والفصل الثاني هو: علاقة المكان بالزمان... وهي علاقة تشكل سمة للمكان متعالقة بالزمان... فهناك أمكنة تاريخية حديثة، وأخرى تاريخية قديمة، وأمكنة ذات زمان لا مرجعية ولا تحديد لها... هي الأمكنة الأسطورية. والفصل الثالث: يتناول المكان والإنسان... فالناس بحسب الأمكنة أنماط مختلفة، وتؤثر الأمكنة في المتمكنين داخلها، ويتناول هذا الفصل أنماط الناس داخل الأمكنة الخليجية، والفصل الرابع يتناول: العناوين المكانية والعتبات المكانية في الرواية الخليجية وهي مداخل مرتبطة بهدف الدراسة. ستغطي الدراسة المكان، والمكان والزمان، والمكان والإنسان، وشيئاً من عتبات الرواية الخليجية المكانية. أما منهجها الذي استثمرته فهو المنهج الذي يعتمد على الاستقراء في داخل النصوص، من خلال قراءة داخلية، ثم توصيف وتأويل وتفكيك الدلالات التي تكشف عنها هذه القراءة.
لقد صوّرت الروايات الخليجية التحوّلات التي ألمّت بالإقليم كلّه عبر التحولات الحادة، أو التحولات البطيئة، وصوّرت كذلك السمات التي استقرّت فيمن استقرّ في هذا الإقليم وتفاعل معه، كالبحّارة، والبدو، وأهل المدن، وعمّال النفط، والعمالة الأجنبية، وصوّرت التحوّلات التي ألمّت بسكان الصحراء، أو العاملين فيها، وما آلت إليه علاقاتهم بشركات النفط. فالرقيق، والقراصنة، والنخّاسون، والبحّارة، والبدو، والعمّال، والشركات الأجنبيّة، والسجّانون، والسجناء.. كلّ هؤلاء عرضت لهم الرواية الخليجية، وحدّدت أبعاد الشخوص النفسية مرتبطة بالفضاء المكاني الذي تعايشت فيه ومعه.
