هذه المنطقة، الّتي ولدت فيها، تقع في غرب الصحراء الأردنيّة، تطلّ على البحر الميّت من الشرق... سلسلة جبال ترتفع 1000 متر عن سطح البحر، والبحر الميّت ينخفض 400 متر عن سطح البحر، تشرف عليها، من الشرق بيوتنا التي بنيت على آثار مدن شديدة العراقة... لا نعرف تاريخياً متى بنيت، جدرانها ضخمة نسمّيها الجدران الرومانيّة، وبالتالي فأقلّ هذا التاريخ شأناً هو الشأن الذي نحن فيه.
"موسى، عليه السلام، خرج من مصر عن طريق سيناء، ودخل جنون الأردنّ، ثمّ توجّه إلى الشمال ماراً بالمنطقة الّتي أتحدّث عنها: منطقة الكرك، وبها أماكن ذكرت في القرآن (الوادي المقدّس طوى)، وعندها بئر مدين الّذي جاءه موسى وسقى لبنات شعيب منه، كما مرّ ذكر البحر الميّت في العهد القديم. هذه بعض معالم الكرك، ولأمر ما أصرّ زعماء إسرائيل على توقيع معاهدة الصلح مع الأردنّ في موقع محدّد من وادي عربة، واضطرّوا كلينتون، رئيس الولايات المتحدة، إلى الذهاب هناك، رغم أن الرمل قد غطى وجهه مع وجوه الحاضرين.
يمكننا أن نقول إنّ الكرك بها حضارة عريقة، وعدد سكانها كان 5 ملايين، وبها من العلماء العشرات بل المئات، وبها مدارس تكاد تكون جامعات ذاك الزمان، كلّ ذلك ذهب واندثر، ولم يبق منه إلاّ هذه الأرض التي تعيش حياة شبه بدائيّة.
