هذا كتاب أريد له - إبتداءً - أن يكون على المستوى العام لذا حرصت أن أضمنه من سيرة الرصافي وآثاره وشعره ما لا يسع الأديب جهله، ووصولاً إلى هذه الغاية بدا لي أن أبنيه على أربعة فصول هي: 1-الفصل الأول - وضمنته أهم المعالم البارزة في سيرة حياته ذلك لأن الدراسة الأدبية كما يقول الناقد الفرنسي سانت بيف (1806- 1869) تقود إلى الدراسة الإنسانية قيادة طبيعية، 2-الفصل الثاني - وقد أتيت فيه على التعريف بمؤلفاته المطبوعة منها والمخطوطة معززاً ذلك بنماذج من كل كتاب وذلك ليكون هذا الكتاب مستقلاً بنفسه مستغنياً عن سواه، 3-الفصل الثالث - وقد أودعته طائفة مختارة من آرائه في اللغة والأدب والصحافة والسياسة وأبرزت - على لسانه - بعضاً من مواقفه السياسية والفكرية ودفاعه ومنافحته عن تلك الآراء بالقدر الذي يعطي صورة واضحة لفكره الأدبي والسياسي، 4-الفصل الرابع - وقد خصصته لشعره منذ بدايته إلى أن استوى شاعراً بارزاً يقف بين عمالقة الشعر العربي المعاصر، كما عنيت بإبرازه كداعية إصلاح إجتماعي وديني.
