"وعندما يتأتئ عزوز تتعثر الحكاية ويتخبط المعنى في رواق الكلام، ومعه يتأتى الوقت واللعب وتنور أبيه.. افترقنا.. سلك درب التجارة بتحريض، أو بتهديد من أبيه. تلفقته الديار البعيدة والقواميس الأجنبية. تقاسمته المعاهد والمدن الباردة. وأخيراً أحكم السديم قبضته على معصمه وشدّه إلى مرابطه، وبفروه الشفيف سيج شرفاته.. فما عاد الحنين يهرول إلى الحنين, وما عاد عزوز يلتفت إلى الوراء في شجن، بل مضى لاهثاً خلاف أدلاّء، تعج بهم الضواحي، يجسّون الخرائط بعصي غليظة ويخوضون في مدٍّ من الثلج حتى أقصى الغياب. شتاء تدحرج وراء شتاء وما بان خَدِينُ الأمس. الآن، كلما شممت رغيفاً رأيت عزوز يذرع بهو الذاكرة مختالاً في مشيته، فصيحاً في صمته، فأشعل قميصاً لعله يأتي إلى جالباً مصيغات حلمه والقهوة التي يحبها، ومعاً نرفع الحجاب عن قارب يبحر بنا إلى أرياف الطفولة".
ضمن مناخات احتفالية بذكرى طفولة بعيدة، تنسل الحوادث آخذة بركاب معانٍ مفعمة بألق التعبير المغلًّف بحنين آسر، حنين بريء، حنين يشدك لتغرق مع الروائي في استحضاراته للزمن البعيد، وفي انفعالاته، تذهب معه بعيداً في سردياته تحكي حكايات لطيفة وتشي بقدرة رائعة على صياغة الحدث البسيط ضمن عبارات أنيقة بليغة مؤثرة، تحمل من الوصف ما تحمل، وتحمل من صدق الأحاسيس ما يقنع القارئ بالتعاطف مع ذاك الكاتب المتماهي في استرجاعات، في ذكريات أرسلها حنين موجع إلى لحظات ركنًّ بعيداً في حضن ذاك الزمان.
