لقد وجدتُ فيما كتبه كاتبُنا سعيد عبيد، الكثيرَ الكثيرَ مما يُشبهني ويُشبه مشاعري ومشاعر المئات والآلاف، بل ملايين المتغرِّبين في الأرض الذي يعيشون في أكثر من موضعٍ في آنٍ واحد، فهو يوجّه كتابه إلى محيطه الضيّق من أهله والأوسع من لبنان، وإلى الذين يعيشون تجبته وهم "غرباء في الغرب ورهائن في الشرق"؛ وهذا عنوانُ كتابه.
كاتبنا يقولها بالفم الملآن إنّه ليسَ بكاتبٍ، وإن لغته العربية لا تساعده كثيراً على التعبير.
وتجد ذلك واضحاً في نصوصه التي تجاوزتها، وذهبت وراء المعاني والأفكار والتطلّعات المكثّفة في النصوص.
وقد ارتحتُ لبساطة التجربة الفريدة المهيمنة على الفكرة العامة للكتاب، واستوقفتني المسائل الفكرية المزمنة والشاغلة أفكارنا، والسؤالات الدينية والتساؤلات الماورائية التي ما تزال، برغم قِدَمها، موضع بحثٍ يختلف في كُنهه الكثيرون، ووجدتُ أجوبةً بسيطة لأُمورٍ معقَّدة قد تكون الدواء الشافي لأَمراض أفكارنا الجامدة فيما خصَّ الإيمان الذي لا نستطيع منعَه عن سوانا لمن هم أكثر منا معرفة بما نملك ونعتبره حِكراً لنا وحدنا، وممنوعاً عليهم.
