من الأمور التي تلفت الانتباه في شاذل طاقة الشاعر، القلة النسبية لشعره.. فهو لم يكن شاعراً مكثراً. ولعل هذا من أهم الأسباب التي حفظت لشعره مستوى معيناً، وأبعدته عن التكرار، وضمنت له التنوع.. وطبعته بخصائص محببة، أولها هذه "العفوية اللغوية" المصحوبة بجرس عذب الإيقاع.. إلى جانب الاحتفاء بتجارب لها حيويتها الشعرية وفعلها الواقعي. ولعل منبع هذا ما كان يختزنه في أعماق نفسه من موروث ثقافي ذي مصادر متعددة، يداخله إحساس صادق وعميق بالأشياء، وبضرب من التعاطف والتواصل شديدين مع هذه يولف منها "حقائق" يمكن أن يعيشها الآخر من خلال الشعر.. ..وعبر جميع المراحل، لم يتخل شاذل طاقة عن هذه الغاية التي تحدثت عن نفسها في فترة مبكرة من حياته الشعرية.
