هذا وقد جاء هذا البحث في مقدمة وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة، ثم قائمة للمصادر والمراجع متبعة بفهرس للموضوعات. وفي الفصل الأول تم التحدث عن حياة أحمد شوقي وآثاره الشعرية والنثرية. وفي الفصل الثاني تم التطرق لأغراضه الشعرية، وهي كثيرة وأبرزها المدح، والوصف، والدين، والتاريخ، والرثاء، والسياسة والوطنية، والاجتماع، والأخلاق والحكم، وموضوعات أخرى. وفي الفصل الثالث ثم إدراج مختارات من روائع شعر شوقي في ديوانه الكبير، المتضمن أربعة أجزاء.
