"انهمكت أمي في نشر الثياب على الحبال المنصوبة في ساحة البيت الخلفية وهي تلعن حظها العاثر، ناديتها ثانية، رفعت رأسها نحوي وهتفت بحدة: متى ستكفين عن التصرف ببلاهة؟ اهبطي على الفور!
قالت لكاتيا: أريد أن أعود إلى أمي.
قبلتني باستسلام ثم فتحت النافذة. دفعتني برفق إلى السفل. رفعت بصري نحوها. كانت عيناها تذرفان الدموع، لوحت لي قائلة: تذكريني دائماً!
غابت الطائرة تلاشى هديرها تماماً. أخذت أحلق في الهواء وقد فردت ذراعي على اتساعهما، خشيت من السقوط في طشت الغسيل، غير أنني صحوت وكانت جدتي تحتضنني وهي تردد: (اسم الله عليك).
تنشقت رائحة الحناء المنبعثة منها، تشبثت بعنقها بقوة، غمرتني بحنو متسائلة: هل كان حلماً مخيفاً؟!
أغلقت عينيها ثانية تأملت وجهها ا لمتغضن. استمعت إلى أنفاسها المنتظمة. لكزتها بحذر. فتحت عينها بتثاقل. ترددت للحظة قبل أن أسأل: جدتي متى ستعود "ماما كاتيا"؟
ثبتت الغطاء فوق جسدي غالبت ثقل النعاس، تثائبت طويلاً، كان صوتها أقرب إلى الهمس وهي ترد بحزم: إن من يذهب لا يعود نامي! تراخى ذراعي ثقلت جفوني، وما أن سقطت في النوم حتى علا هدير محرك الطائرة ثانية."
بهذه الجمل القصيرة تلملم الكاتبة معمارها القصصي لتختزل مساقط الرؤية الحادة للواقع وللحلم وللموت ودائماً تنأى حين توشك أن تنال.
والمكان الأشد حضوراً في قصص بسمة النسور هو روح الإنسان خياله وأوهامه فمعظم شخوص القصص رجالاً كانوا أم نساء هم من يعاني أشكالاً من القلق والتوتر، هم مسكونون بهواجس وأوهام وبلا أية أحلام لأن أحلامهم قد تحطمت.
