لقد اهتمت الشريعة بحياة الإنسان منذ أن كان جنينا في بطن أمه وتبدى هذا الاهتمام بوضعها العقوبات الرادعة التي من شأنها ردع المجرم عن الإقدام على ارتكاب جريمته، أو في حال أنه ارتكب جريمة قتل الإنسان ما فقد قررت العقوبات المناسبة وذلك بناء على الظروف المحيطة بارتكاب الجريمة، وقد عني هذا الكتاب ببيان الجرائم التي تقع على الإنسان لما لحياة الإنسان من مكانة عظيمة فقد وضح الكتاب حكما القتل في الشريعة الإسلامية كما فرق بين أنواع القتل في الإسلام وهي : القتل العمد والقتل شبه العمد والقتل الخطأ والقتل شبه الخطأ وكان يضرب مثالا على كل من نوع ثم تناول بعدها عقوبة القتل حسب كل نوع منها ثم بدأ بعد ذلك بتفصيل جريمة القتل فتناول الركن المادي وكذلك المعنوي كما عرض لجريمة الإجهاض إذ عدها جريمة ولاغرابة في ذلك إذا كانت حياة الإنسان هي محور الاهتمام.
