هذا الكتاب هو الكتاب الثالث للدكتور عن فدوى طوقان بعد كتابيّ "الرحلة المنسيّة: فدوى طوقان وطفولتها الإبداعيّة، و"فدوى طوقان: دراسة ومختارات"، وهي جميعاً حصيلة إهتماماته بفدوى وشعرها منذ سنوات.
وقد رتب المؤلف الحوارات تاريخيّاً بدءاً بأولها (1962) وإنتهاء بآخرها (2003)، لأهمية هذا الترتيب في الكشف عن ظروف حياتها وملابساتها وتطورها تمرداً وبوحاً وتحولاً وتجديداً وتغيّراً في الرؤى والمفاهيم الأدبيّة والفنيّة والإجتماعية والسياسية والوطنيّة؛ وعن تأثراتها الأولى بالقدماء والتاليّة بالمعاصرين.
وتعدّ هذه الحوارات ثريّة جداً بما تحويه من معلومات تردف ما في سيرة صاحبتها الذاتية بجزئيها: "رحلة جبليّة رحلة صعبة" و"الرحلة الأصعب" لا سيما أنها لا تؤمن بموت المبدع أو "المؤلف" - كما هو شائع في النقد الحديث - بل تعدّ قصائدها جزءاً من سيرتها على وفْق رأيها "شعر الشاعر هو سيرته الذاتيّة" كما في الحوارين الأول والتاسع.
في الحوارات إعترافات وبوْح عن نشأتها ومسيرتها الأدبيّة وإبداع القصائد والأحداث والسياقات التي ولّدتها وأنطقتها بها، من مثل "رُقيّة" و"أنشودة الصيرورة" و"الفدائي والأرض" و"حمزة" و"آهات أمام شبّاك التصاريح" مما يسند الإتجاه النقدي الأحدث الذي يرى أن النص "بُنيّة وحدث" ويتواءم معه.
