المسألة في هذا الكتاب بالكتابة الذاتية في الأدب العربي أي "الأتوبيوغرافيا"، والحال أن تراكم عدد كبير من النصوص الأتوبيوغرافية العربية لم يؤد إلى خلق سجال نقدي حقيقي حول هذا الجنس الأدبي وقضاياه، فالباحث في هذا الجنس الأدبي لا يزال في حاجة ماسة إلى مرجعية نظرية ونقدية تكون مفاتيح تساعده على تحليل إشكالياته، وأدوات عمل تسمح بالدخول إلى تلك النصوص الذاتية.
ونخص بالدراسة أثراً من جنس الترجمة الذاتية للشاعرة الفلسطينية "فدوى طوقان"، وهو كتاب "رحلة جبلية رحلة صعبة" الذي صدر في طبعته الأولى سنة (1976م) وسجلت فيه الشاعرة مجموعة من القضايا تنوعت وتشابكت، سنحاول دراستها مع إبراز موقف الشاعرة منها وعلاقتها بواقعها وتفاعلها معه. ولعله من المنطقي في بداية الأمر أن نعطي بنذة موجزة عن فدوى طوقان شاعرة، ثم نحدد المصطلح قبل الدخول في جوهرة المسألة.
