نأمل أن يلق هذا الكتاب بعض الضوء على أشياء قد لا تكون معروفة لدى الآخرين عن الشاعرة فدوى طوقان، وتهمهم في الوقت ذاته، أرجو من الله العلي القدير أن يضيف به شيئاً جديداً إلى "أدب السيرة" ولكن بقالب مختلف بعض الشيء عما هو متعارف عليه، ليكون انطلاقاً إلى ما يعرف "بالأدب النفسي"، ذلك الأدب الذي ينطلق من خلفية مبادئ التربية وعلم النفس في تحليل شخصية الأديب أو الكاتب المبدع.
من هنا، فإن الكتاب في جلّه يتكون من المقالات التي نشرتها عن "الشاعرة فدوى" في "جريدة القدس" الصادرة في فلسطين، والتي استندت فيها على نظرة نفسية وتحليلية لبعض شعرها ومذكراتها، ويضم أيضاً مقتطفات من شعرها حسب المناسبة التي جاءت فيها. كذلك الرسائل التي تبادلتها، والانطباعات التي كونت عن شخصيتها، والأحاديث التي تبادلتها لدى زياراتنا واجتماعاتنا ولقاءاتنا في أكثر من مكان وأكثر من محفل، والتي كنت قد وثقتها في دفتر مذكراتي الذي أستقي منه هذا الكتاب، في اليوم والتاريخ والسنة، باختيار الأحداث التي كانت باعثاً لتحريك القلم، أو توسيع الأفق، أو تفتيح العقل.
