"تحكي هذه الرواية قصّة فتاة عراقية مسيحية مُعاقة توفيت أمها في أثناء ولادتها، عاشت في كنف أب طبيب استعان بزميلة له في العمل لتربية ابنته الوحيدة، لكن هذه المرأة يخطفها الموت أيضاً لتعيش الفتاة مع والدها الذي تفقده بشكل غامض إبان غزو الكويت لترحل إلى بغداد في زمن الجوع والحصار الشامل، وتعيش هناك بين زوجين مسيحيين حميمين حتى يتوفيا لتبقى ""أسماء""، وقد فقدت أمهاتها الثلاث تباعاً، تبقى وحيدة تقارع جحيم العنف الدَّموي المستشري في وطنها العراقي حتى ترحل عنه إلى أوطان أخرى كما لو كانت أنثى غجرية يعذبها الترحال وهي تتسلق جدران تلك الأوطان الشاهقة بذراع واحدة.
إنها حكاية فتاة عربية تعصف بها أهوال ما يعيشه العالم من حولها، لكنّها تصنع الحياة باقتدار أنثوي فريد وهي تتنقّل بين أوطان عدَّة كعصفور راجف يبحث عن عش قد يأويه في غابة تساقطت أوراق أشجارها في خريف يبكي هزاله.
قد تعلن هذه السردية (موت الروائي)، لكن معرفة ذلك لا يحدِّده إلاّ القارئ وهو يتابع جماليات السرد فيها. "
