مهما اتسع مجال الدراسات الفلسفية في نظرية المعرفة، فإنه يحتاج دائماً إلى إعادة في النَّظر التفكري من جديد؛ ذلك أن المعرفة الفلسفية تنطوي أبداً على إمكانية التفسير والتأويل أكثر من غيرها مقارنة بأنواع المعارف الأخرى.
وإذا كان هذا الأمر ينطبق على الفلسفة عامّة، فإنه ينطبق أيضاً على بعض الإسهامات الفلسفية التي تُعد فواصل وإستئنافات معرفية مُهمة في تاريخ الفلسفة خاصَّة، ومنها (الفلسفة الكانطية) في مهدما الأول لدى الفيلسوف الألماني إمانويل كانط (1724- 1804).
لقد كان للفلسفة الكانطية أثرها الكبير في مجال (الميتافيزيقا) كونها أعادت النَّظر في أبنيتها وأدوارها، وسعت إلى إعادة تشييدها وفق رؤية جديدة، لكن الأثر الذي لا يقل أهمية إنما يكمن في (نظرية المعرفة الكانطية)، والتي توصف بأنها (نقديَّة)؛ فلقد دشن كانط مرحلة جديدة في هذا المجال عبر تقديمه تفسيراً مغايراً يطوى بين جناحيه ما توصَّل إليه الفلاسفة من قبله، خصوصاً أصحاب الإتجاه العقلي، ومنهم: رينيه ديكارت (1596- 1650) وجوتفريد ليبنتز (1646- 1716)، وكرستيان فولف (1979- 1754)، وأصحاب الإتجاه التجريبي، ومنهم: جون لوك (1632- 1704)، وديفيد هيوم (1711- 1776)، فضلاً عدد من الفلاسفة الألمان الآخرين أمثال: كريستين أوغست كروسيوس (1712- 1775)، وداريس (1714- 1772)، وجوهان هنريخ لامبرت (1728- 1777)، وأغلبهم عاشوا وكتبوا قبل كتابات كانط.
من هنا، لا بدَّ لنا من إستعراض الأفكار الفلسفية التي قدَّمها الفلاسفة قبل كانط في نظرية المعرفة، والتوقُّف عند الإرث النَّقدي الذي صاغ كانط وفقه عناصر نظريته في المعرفة النَّقدية، وهذا ما تضمَّنه (التمهيد) الذي تصدَّر كتابنا المتواضع هذا.
