تحت مرش الاستحمام، حاولت أن أزيح قرفهم عن جسدي، تمنيت لو أنزع جلدي، وأغير كل أنفاسي، ورائحتي، تحسست بطني المنتفخة بالذل، بالقهر، بظلم الإنسان للإنسان، وتذكرت كلام أبي عندما رآني أهبط من سيارة زميلي ''بيتر" في وقت متأخر من الليل –أنت عربية، وبكارتك هي حياتك – أحنيت رأسي على صدري، ودفنت دموعي في المياه، وطردت أفكار الموت عن رأسي، فما زلت أعيش على أمل لقاء الوطن، والوطن هو كل الحياة، ومن أجل الحياة لا بد وأن أضحي وأتشبث بآخر قطعة لحم يمكن أن تجمع تكويني حولها من جديد، لذلك أنا هنا، وسأظل هنا بكل قوة، أصارع هياكلهم الملطخة بدماء الضحايا. وقفت بالشرفة، وتأملت الشارع المزدحم بالسيارات والناس، رفعت رأسي للسماء وأخذت أشكو إلى الله، أشكو بكل أوصالي، وتقاسيمي، ونبضي، فسالت دموعي حتي إنني رأيت الأضواء من خلفها تتحلل.
