تدور احداث هذه الحكاية؛ حول السيد بينون؛ الخنفساء الذكية الذى يضطر للقيام برحلة استشفائية؛ فيغادر عالمه الاكثر آمانا عند جذور شجرة الجوزاء؛ ويعبر الطريق المفتوح فى اتجاه البحيرة؛ ليقابل أسوأمصير قد ينتظر؛ أى مسافر أو عابر سبيل؛ وهو غيلان نهاية الطريق؛ أصحاب السؤال الذى لم يوفّق أى أحد فى الإجابة عليه!!!.. ولكن حياة بينون نفسه؛ لم تكن ابدًا بتلك البساطة التى قد يعتقدها أصدقائه أو أعدائه على حد سواء..
