جنية الماء؛ هى قصة قصيرة للغاية و هى المقدّمة التمهيدية لرواية ساحر الجنوب؛ و تدور أحداثها حول المصادفة غير المتوقّعة و التى جرت فى المطبخ وجمعت بين زوجة القاضى؛ التى لا تنجب؛ بذلك المخلوق السحرى الصغير و غير المرئى؛ ومع ذلك استطاعت زوجة القاضى أن تسبب للجنية معاناة شديدة؛ لم تكن لتتوقف عن الاستمرار فيها حتّى تحقق لها الجنية ثلاث أمنيات؛ وان تحظى الزوجة بأن تكون امًا لثلاث فتيات هنّ الأجمل على الإطلاق؛ و لأن الجنية ملتزمة بقسم الجن؛ وعهدهم؛ إضطرّت لتحقيق امنية زوجة القاضى؛ ومع ذلك؛ وضعت بين ثنياتها؛ إنتقامها الشديد من غريمتها!
