قدم المؤلف لهذا الكتاب بأن مشروع المفكِّر العربي محَمَّد عابد الجابري (1935م-2010م) أهم مشروع للنَّهْضة في تاريخ الفكر العربي المعاصر.. مشروع يَتَحَرَّى علاقة نقدية بين العرب وتراثِهِم الثقافي.. مشروع يستَند على نَقْدانِيَة تَحْتَرِف المَوضُوعيَّة عبر مساءلة عقلانية للذاكرة.. طموحٌ في صياغةٍ ايِبُيستيميولُوجِيَّةٍ للوَاقِعِ، فالعرب يعيشون حاضرهم المشحون بهزائم الوعي الذاتي وهُمْ بعدُ ينشدونَ مَاضٍ مصنوع بعناية الخيال يواجهون به راهن مُؤَسلَّب.
إن قِرَاءة الجابري للتُّراث لا تريد نقد الذَّاكرة التاريخية لمُجَرَّد شَهْوَة بَحْثَيْة عَابرَة، بل لتوفير شَفْرَات الحل الاجتماعي لواقع مَأَزُوم.. والحل في فحص ونقد هذا التراث؛ التراث العربي الإسلامي.
