لا يسعنا الاسترسال في التحدث عن شعر الفرزدق :فنونه وأغراضه ،موضوعاته ومعانيه ،فلابد للدارس من العودة إلى الديوان للوقوف على التفاصيل والإحاطة بالدقائق. وقد آليت على نفسي أن أظهر هذا الديوان بحلة قشيبة وثوب جديد ،فوضعت لقصائده ومقطوعاته عناوين منتخبة وسميت بحور شعره وعرفت بأماكنه وأعلامه ،وأضفت أشعاراً لا يستهان بها في حواشيه متوخياً في كل ذلك الدقة في العمل والإخلاص في النية ،راجياً الله أن يجنبني الزلل ويسدد خطاي إلى السبيل القويم ،فهو نعم المولى ونعم النصير .
