رأيت الأطفال يبكون، والنساء يصرخن، والرجال يحاولون إنقاذ من يستطيعون. كان الدمار يعم المكان، لكني لم أكن أرى سوى صورتها أمامي، أسمع نداءها.
تعثرت بجسدٍ مُلقى على الأرض، وسقطتُ بجواره. كان هناك الكثير من الدماء، وكان من الصعب التمييز بين من هو حي ومن هو ميت. نهضت ببطء، متجاهلاً شكل الجثة التي لم يبقى لوجهها اثر، وواصلت بحثي اليائس. كلما تحركت خطوة، شعرت أنني أبتعد عنها أكثر. لكني لم أستسلم. كنت متمسكاً بخيط رفيع من الأمل، بأنني سأجدها، أنني سأتمكن من الوفاء بوعدي. كلماتها الاخيرة التي تتردد في عقلي:
لا تعوفني.. لا تعوفني..
