يحلل عالم الاجتماع قاسم حسين ظاهرة الاشقيائية عبر التساؤل عن مصدر القسوة والقدرة على القتل، اذ يعزوها الى التفسير البايولوجي الذي يرى من خلال النظريات الحديثة، ان العدوان البشري ينجم عن شذوذ في التركيب الكروموسومي الوراثي ( xyy) لدى الذكور ولان الكروموسوم (y ( يفرز هرمون خاص بالعنف والعدوان فإن وجوده في حالة (xy) يكون طبيعيا ولكنه اذا زاد واصبح (xyy) فإن هذا يؤدي الى زيادة في هرمون العدوان.
