تتناول الرواية حدثا خارقا يتمثل بإيجاد علاج لكل أمراض المزمنة، العجز الجنسي، الشلل الجسدي، الأمراض النفسية، فقدان الذاكرة، الموت الإكلينيكي، بمعنى أن الدكتور "فؤاد المالح" يمتلك "عشبة الخلود" التي تعيد الشيخ إلى صباه، ويمتلك القدارة على القيام بمعجزات السيد المسيح، فأول أعماله الخارقة علاج "أبو حديدة" (البلطجي) من شلل نصفي، وجعله سليما، ثم جعل أبو حامد وأم حامد العجوزين يستعيدان شبابهما رغم أنهما في الشيخوخة، بعدها جعل شيخان يستعيدان شبابهما حتى أن العجوز تحمل، فتضع مولودها مع حفيدتها في الوقت نفسه وفي المستشفى ذاته: "يا إلهي امرأة وحفيدتها تلدان معا..!" ص74، يستمر "فؤاد المالح" في أعماله الخارقة فيعالج "محمود" فاقد الذاكرة، وذروته أعمله تجسدت في معالجة "يوسف" من موت الدماغ "موت إكلينيكي"
بعد هذه الإنجازات العظيمة تحدث (بلبلة) في البلد بحيث يجتمع مجلس النواب/ الشعب لمناقشة أعمال "فؤاد المالح" وهل يجوز استمراره في معالجة الناس الذين أصبحوا في سن الشباب، بحيث خلت البلد من الشيوخ والعجزة، طارحين أفكارا متعددة ومتنوعة،
