في مجموعته الشعرية هذه، يبدو سلطان السبهان كمن يفتح في جسد الماء جرحاً شفيفاً تهدهده النسمة العابرة، وقد عبقت روح الشاعر بالشذا، لتنبت شعراً يعيد إلينا الحياة من جديد "روحٌ هو الماء، / لو شكلته جسداً / لطالما بين أضلاع الوهاد جرى / حجارةً نحن ... / لطفُ الماء يمنحها / بهاءها / إن مضى في عمقها وسرى ...". بعد ذلك يأخذنا الشاعر إلى فضاءات النص الداخلية من خلال جدلية الحياة والموت المتشكلة في عدد من الثنائيات المتناقضة – كثنائية الواقع ، والحلم .. لو حطموك، / فأنت في أفكارهم / حلمٌ بموج جفافهم لم يغرقِ / لوّح بأمنية الصباح وقل لهم / ما الحب إلا ... / أن نعيش لنرتقي ...". وبهذا المعنى تبدو قصائد الشاعر مركبة ذات بناء درامي، أو طابع ملحمي، أو حتى إطار قصصي، فلكل قصيدة حكاية، ولكن الشاعر يتوقف عند اللحظة الفعلية (الآن)، فالمستقبل يولد في الآن، اللحظة الزمنية التي تجري ولا سبيل لايقافها...
