بول ريكور (بالفرنسية: Paul Ricœur ) فيلسوف فرنسي وعالم إنسانيات معاصر ولد في فالينس، شارنت، 27 فبراير 1913، وتوفي في شاتيناي مالابري، 20 مايو 2005. هو واحد من ممثلي التيار التأويلي، اشتغل في حقل الاهتمام التأويلي ومن ثم بالاهتمام بالبنيوية، وهو امتداد لفريديناند دي سوسير. يعتبر ريكور رائد سؤال السرد. أشهر كتبه (نظرية التأويل -التاريخ والحقيقة-الزمن والحكي- الخطاب وفائض المعنى - Interpretation philosophic theory - Discourse and the Surplus of Meaning / من منشورات جامعة تكساس المسيحية عام 1976).

كتاب فلسفة الإرادة تأليف بول ريكور، إذا كان هناك فكر إلى جانب العلوم الإنسانية، فإنه يتوجب عليه أن ينحصر حول الصعوبة الأساسية في إيجاد عديل له ومضارب للمواضيع الخرافية مثل السقوط، النفي، الكاوس والإضلال المأساوي؛ هذا البحث يمرُّ حتماً بنقد مفاهيم الخطيئة الأصلية المادة الفاسدة، العدم، وتنفتح على الرموز التأملية القابلة للتنسيق بين الأنطولوجية الأساسية للواقع الإنساني وبين وصف الشر كلا كائن نوعي وكموقف قوي. إن لغز العبد الحاكم، أي الحكم الحر الذي يقيد نفسه ويجد نفسه دائماً مقيداً، هو المضمون الأقصى للرمز الذي يؤدي إلى التفكير.
هذه الإشارة إلى موضوع العبد الحاكم تجعلنا نستشف منها كم أن المشاكل الخاصة بالمنهج والتي تمّ تجاوزها، مرتبطة بمشاكل العقيدة، وبفرضية العمل وبالرهان الفلسفي، وللتدليل على هذا الرهان كان بإمكاننا أن نختار كعنوان ثان، لهذا الكتاب: "عظمة وحد الرؤيا الأخلاقية للعالم". وبالفعل، فمن جهة، باتجاه رؤية أخلاقية للعالم، بالمعنى الهيجلي للكلمة، يبدو جعل الأخذ برمزية الشر يمتد إلى التفكير الفلسفي؛ لكن من جهة أخرى، وبشكل أوضح، نميّز بين المتطلبات، ومساهمات هذه الرؤية الأخلاقية، وبصورة مؤكدة تبدو عدم إمكانية شمول كل إشكالية الإنسان والشر نفسه بواسطة رؤية أخلاقية للعالم.
