Mona Nahleh’s artistic education stated with the Egyptian painter Mansour Ahmad after having learned academic techniques. She started developing her own style since 1994, she has been participating in several collective exhibitions in Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, France and in Lebanon. She also exhibited individually in Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria and Lebanon. Her last personal exhibition took place in 2010, in Beirut.
Amid form and formlessness, Mona Nahleh’s paintings take place between light and darkness, an uncertain balance searches itself, in this in-between state, all is possible. Elements attract and refund each other, creating shapes and figures. Mona Nahleh’s paintings are life giving. If her compositions are dualistic- her paintings present most of the time two main entities and colors – They are rather in a never-ending search for completeness. White is essential to black and vice versa, in order for shapes to exist. What will become of those shapes depends on what the painter sees on the canvas when she applies the paint to it. If a figure appears, the artist will work, on it, without depicting it realistically. In fact, Mona represents an idea rather than distinctive individuals, a head with no face. Through a smooth transition, she drags the viewer into another reality.
