في هذا الكتاب خمسون قصيدة ومقطوعة شعرية للشاعر العراقي "محمد حسين آل ياسين" جمعها وساقها باللغتين العربية والإنكليزية المترجم الدكتور "عبد الواحد محمد مسلط"، وهي عبارة عن قصائد من (الغزل أو الوجدانيات الخاصة أو الأخوانيات والمدن)، وحرص أن تكون من الستينات والثمانينات والتسعينات لتعطى صورة شاملة عن التجربة الشعرية للشاعر.
يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة للمترجم، يقدم فيها الشاعر آل ياسين، ويذكر نبذة عن أعماله الأدبية وأسلوبه الشعري، ومكانته بين شعراء جيله، بالإضافة إلى عالمه الشعري الذي تأخذ فيه المرأة حيزاً كبيراً: يقول الدكتور عبد الواحد: "وفي نظر الشاعر تخلق المرأة عالماً من الخيال المليء بالأسرار.
لذا نظم قصائد متنوعة عن المرأة: حبيبة، زوجة، أماً، ابنة، وامرأة رمزاً إلخ، وفي المجموعة الماثلة تعد قصيدة "فائدة" أنموذجاً رائعاً عبّر فيه الشاعر برقة عن حبه وأحاسيسه العميقة نحو زوجته، رفيقة دربه في الحياة، وفي هذه القصيدة يعرض تعبيره مشاعر رقيقة جداً وصوراً شعرية ساحرة...".
ومن قصيدة (فائدة) للشاعر نختار بعض الأبيات، يقول فيها: "أراني إذ فارقتُ عينك راحلاً... إلى دفئها في كل آن أُسافرُ"... "وغامرتُ إذْ أودعتها وهي مرفئي... وأقسم أني بعدها لا أغامرُ"... "وإذ عز منها ما يؤانس وحشتي... تسامرني أطيافها وأسامرُ...".
ومن عناوين القصائد نذكر: صبرا سعاد، أخي، عبقر جديد، عرس، سهى، رياض... إلخ...
