"من الضروري أن ارادت ايزابيل الليندي في افروديت ان تختلف، فجاء اختلافها عزفا منفردا على مقام الرواية، يحمل الكثير من نزوع الانسان في مسيرة الحياة التي يرسم ايقاعها موضوعان شغلا البشرية وتسببا بالحروب والويلات كما تسببا بالفرح والحلم والابداع، وهما الحب والطعام انهما الفنان اللذان كانا محط تفكر الانسان وتأمله ، ابداعاته وارهاصاته، وبحثه الدائم عن الجديد فيهما. تقول ايزابيل:
"من الضروري أن نعلن الآن وبقلب مفتوح، وقبل ان يتابع القارىء اضاعة وقته في هذه الصفحات، أن الشيء الافروديتي الوحيد هو الحب. ما من شيء يستطيع أن يوقف العاطفة المتأججة لشخصين عاشقين. في هذه الحالة لا تهم صروف الدهر، حنق السنين، بطء الجسد، أو فقر الفرص، فالمحبان يتدبران أمرهما كي يتحابا، لأن قدرهما هو هذا تعريفا. لكن الحب مثل الحظ يصل حين لا يستدعيه أحد، يشوشنا ويتبخر مثل الضباب حين نحاول الامساك به. وبالتالي هو من وجهة نظر قيمته المهيجة ترف عدد محدود من المحظوظين، لا يدركه من لم يجرح بسهامه."
لذلك وبمناسبة بدء الألفية الثالثة نهدي هذا الكتاب: الى كل المحبين والعشاق الذين "مرمر" قلوبهم الحب والعشق. والى كل الازواج والزوجات عساه يكسر مللا ورتابة راكمتهما السنين.
