مدينةُ الموصلِ موطنُ الحضاراتِ الأُوَل. أشرقتْ فيها شمسُ العلمِ، وترعرعتْ بين جوانحِها براعمُ الأدبِ. رفعتْ رايةَ الثقافةِ، إذ عُثرَ فيها على أقدمِ مكتبةٍ في العالمِ القديمِ، ومشتْ في دروبِ الشعرِ، وحملتْ لواءَ الفكرِ، وشُعلةَ الحضارةِ؛ فنبغَ فيها من العلماءِ والأدباءِ والشعراءِ والفقهاءِ والوشّاحينَ ما يشكِّلُ علامةً مُضيئةً في سِفرها البهيجِ. لها دورٌ سامقٌ في العصورِ الإسلاميةِ المُتعاقبةِ إلى مطلعِ القرنِ الثاني عشر للهجرة الذي تطالعُنا (الموصلُ) فيه بوهجٍ ثقافيٍّ، وصيتٍ أدبيٍّ، وولادةِ شعراء كُثْرٍ سلكوا طريقَ الإبداعِ
