إن ما جاء في "موسوعة التعبير والترجمة" بما فيه من تنوع في الموضوعات والصياغات الإنشائية، يمكن الطالب من التعبير، ومن جهة أخرى توفر النصين العربي والإنكليزي مما يدفع الطالب إلى المقارنة وهو السبيل الأكثر امتاعاً لتعلم اللغة والمقالات التي وردت ليست بالطويلة المملة، ولا بالقصيرة المخلة، وقد ارتبطت مواضيعها بالحياة اليومية للطالب وبمناهجه كي تستقر في ذاكرته فلا ينساها، وقد بلغت تلك المواضيع حوالي الخمسين موضوعاً.
لقد شعرت أن المكتبات ومناهج التعليم لا ترضي رغبات الدارسين في مجالي التعبير والترجمة كما أنني لاحظت-في المدارس والجامعات-نطرح على الطالب موضوعاً معيناً من دون أن نسعفه بصياغة لغوية رافدة، وبافكار وتعبيرات تدفعه إلى التقليد الإيجابي الذي يضيف إليه إبداعات فردية.
والحق أنه ليس سهلاً أن يعالج الطالب موضوعاً من الموضوعات الرفيعة المستوى، وبخاصة تلك التي تتطلب اطلاعاً وصياغة وشواهد. إن موسوعة التعبير والترجمة تصيب هدفين في آن معاً، فهي من جهة تمكن الطالب من التعبير، ومن جهة أخرى فإنها توفر له النصين بالعربي والانكليزي مما يدفعه إلى المقارنة وليس هناك-أسلوباً أكثر امتاعاً-لتعلم لغة-من المقارنة.
ليس هذا فحسب فإن الطالب يرى نفسه مدفوعاً إلى قراءة الموضوعات كافة ذلك أنها ليست بالمقالات الطويلة التي توهن عزمه في المواصلة كما أنها ترتبط بحياته اليومية ومناهجه. ينبغي على الطالب أن يدرس المفردات والتراكيب، ثم يشرع بعد ذلك في دراسة النص الانكليزي حتى إذا أمسى متعذراً عليه فهم تعبير معين لاذ بالنص العربي، وتلك هي الطريق الوحيدة التي يجب أن يسلكها.
والموسوعة تقع في ثلاثة أجزاء يضم الجزء منها خمسين موضوعاً ، وأهم هذه المواضيع: التردد، العظمة، مانوع شخصيتك؟، صفات لا أحبها في الناس، الريف والمدينة، الوقت، شخصية رياضية، مدينتي، الحرية، الصداقة، السفر، أشطة الفراغ، المال أصل الشرور جميعاً، التسامح، الأنانية رذيلة، كيف تكون سعيداً، تكافؤ الفرص، الجامعة، المرأة، الغيرة، النجاح، الكذب والكذابون، أخطار التلوث، إذا هبت رياحك فاغتنمها.
