أمست اللغة الإنكليزية في يومنا هذا حاجة ملحّة على المستويات جميعاً، وبرغم ذلك لا يزال المتعلم العربي في حيرة من أمره، فهو لا يدري كيف يتعلم هذه اللغة على نحو مقبول وسهل.
من أجل ذلك رأينا أن نضع كتابنا هذا بين يدي المتعلم العربي واعتمدنا النهج الإزدواجي الذي يمكن المتعلم من إكتساب مهارات هذه اللغة عن طريق اللغة الأم، فكان لزاماً علينا أن نطرح القواعد الإنكليزية ونشرحها ونبسطها أمامه ثم نأتي بتطبيقات وتمارين تسعفه في فهم هذه القواعد وإدراك كنهها.
ثم مضينا قدماً فقدمنا له نصوصاً تشمل موضوعات ثقافية تهمه في حياته العامة والخاصة وأتبعناها بأحاديث وحوارات قصيرة حول جوانب معينة من الحياة بغية دفعه إلى مجاراتها من باب الإنشاء المماثل أو التقليدي الذي يُعَدّ متطلباً أساسياً لتعلُّم لغة ما.
وفضلاً عن ذلك فقد وضعنا إلى جوار كل نص وحديث وتطبيق صوراً موضحة ممّا له أثر في ترسيخ المعلومات أو البنى اللغوية في ذهن المتعلّم.
وكتابنا هذا إنّما يهدف في المقام الأول إلى تمكين المتعلم من اللغة المكتوبة من طريق النهج الإزدواجي حتى إذا بلغ مستوى جيداً في هذا المجال شعر بحاجة إلى اللغة المحكية التي هي في الواقع الجانب الآخر من العملة اللغوية، وهنا يجد المتعلم أمامه مجموعة من الأحاديث التي تُغني معلوماته من حيث الإصطلاحات والتراكيب، ليس هذا فحسب بل يجد كذلك شرحاً لمّا صعب عليه وترجمةً لكل حديث مِمّا يجعله على ثقة بأنّه يفهم النص فهماً كاملاً.
